Florence is a graceful, elegant city, the cradle of Italian Renaissance, and a walking tour is definitely the best way to explore its center, which is relatively small, flat and manageable. Follow your guide on a relaxed stroll and, alongside worldwide known sites, like Giotto’s bell tower and the Duomo, piazza della Signoria or Ponte Vecchio, have a glimpse at less famous but equally noteworthy things, like Orsanmichele façade or the “porcellino” (piglet) fountain.
Visit the Uffizi, one of the finest and most complete collections of paintings in Europe, where you find masters like Giotto, Raphael, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Botticelli, to mention but a few. Your guide's balanced presentation of historical facts and intriguing anecdotes will help you get a clearer picture of a city that never fails to touch visitors’ hearts.
This afternoon is yours to continue exploring at leisure. We recommend a visit to the Academy Museum to see the iconic Statue of David, and if the weather is nice, a stroll through the Boboli Gardens located at the Pitti Palace is sure to leave a lasting impression!
Group transfers to Villa Catignano will be organized for the wedding guests. The scenic countryside between Florence and Siena is the setting of this exciting day, including two jewels of medieval architecture, both enrolled in UNESCO’s world heritage list and some local lavish food and excellent wine. The skyline of San Gimignano, your first stop, is pretty unique, due to the many towers that eminent families built throughout the Middle Ages as a display of power.
By the time your saunter through the center is over, it will be lunchtime, so no better moment to stop at a small, well-cared, family-run wine estate just outside San Gimignano. With the never-too-praised Tuscan countryside in the background, take your time to relax while enjoying a mouth-watering meal paired with a tasting of the wines produced in the estate.
After lunch head for Siena, where your local guide will show you the Duomo’s façade, the magic atmosphere of the cobbled streets, the perfect architectural balance of Piazza del Campo and, last but not least, the special and unique relations that the Senese people have with their contrada and with the Palio, the iconic, although lately controversial, historical horse race in which resides a great part of Siena’s identity.
This evening, the real party will begin as everyone gathers for a group dinner with compliments of Alek and Christine.
While the wedding party prepares for the big day, you are welcome to enjoy today however you please. You're welcome to luxuriate by the pool, wander around the grounds, relax in any of the public spaces, or join an optional sightseeing tour of the area. Options will be posted soon, and will come at an additional cost.
The wedding day is finally here!
We encourage guests to stay on the Villa property to ensure you're rested and ready to celebrate into the evening. Breakfast will be served, followed later by a light lunch.
The ceremony details will be announced closer to the date. However, it will be followed by dinner, drinks, and dancing. Bellisimo!
The time has come to say "Arrivederci!" to this special place. Private return transfers to Florence are included, and can be arranged to bring you to the Florence Airport or to the city center.
You're also welcome and encouraged to extend your travels before heading home! Whether you opt to explore more of Italy—such as Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Venice, or the Lakes region—or you'd like to see another corner of Europe—we recommend Switzerland or Greece—we can help you create the right tour for you.
