Hiking Iceland Day-by-day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik

Upon landing at Keflavik International Airport, you’ll be whisked away to our handpicked accommodation in Reykjavik, the vibrant heart of Iceland. After settling in, take the afternoon to explore the city’s unique charm, from the iconic Hallgrímskirkja to the bustling old harbor. Your first night will be spent in the cozy comfort of Reykjavik.

Day 2: Reykjadalur Hot Springs Hike

Embarking on a scenic drive, we make our way to the Reykjadalur Valley. Here, an invigorating hike leads you through rolling green valleys and past bubbling hot springs. The reward? A relaxing soak in a natural hot river, surrounded by untouched nature. As the day winds down, we return to Reykjavik for another comfortable overnight stay.

Day 3: Þórsmörk Valley and Eyjafjallajökull Volcano

Today’s adventure leads us to Þórsmörk Valley, a hidden gem nestled between glaciers. The hike offers breathtaking views of the notorious Eyjafjallajökull volcano, its rugged beauty a testament to nature’s power. After a day of exploration, we return to Reykjavik, where you’ll rest up for the next leg of your journey.

Day 4: South Coast Waterfalls and Black Sand Beach

A picturesque drive along the South Coast takes us to two magnificent waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Here, the power of nature is on full display. We’ll also explore the dramatic Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, an otherworldly landscape of towering basalt columns. If you’re up for an extra thrill, an optional glacier walk awaits. After a day of unforgettable sights, we retire for the night in Reykjavik.

Day 5: Vatnajökull National Park and Svartifoss Waterfall

Heading east, we arrive at Vatnajökull National Park, home to Europe’s largest glacier. The highlight is a hike to Svartifoss Waterfall, where stunning basalt columns frame the natural wonder. Take in the diverse landscapes, from glacial tongues to crystal-clear icebergs. In the evening, we rest in comfortable accommodations near the park.

Day 6: Depart for home

Bid farewell to the Iceland as you enjoy your final moments in Reykjavik. Spend your last day exploring any remaining city sights or indulging in some last-minute souvenir shopping.
