Frequently Asked Questions

We create custom, independent tours to select destinations in Europe. Each tour comprises of accommodation, transportation, and experiences and activities based on your specific desires and interests.

We like to provide exceptional service to all of our clients.  We’ve found one way to succeed with this is to schedule calls to avoid distraction or interruptions.

This means that when we speak our attention is 100% on you!

We have tons of flexibility to book trips for solo travelers, couples, and group numbering from 10-100+. Whether you’re interested in honeymooning in Paris, glamping in Croatia, or immersing yourself in Greek history: we’ve got you covered!

Not at all! We believe the best trips include a loose structure. You will want a few things arranged in advance, but you will also want some unplanned time to explore on your own. We pride ourselves in creating well-balanced itineraries that include as many pre-arranged experiences as you’d like.

We can provide a variety of accommodation types depending on your preferences, budget, and specific destinations. Accommodations include 4 and 5-star hotels, villas, castles, and select apartments or private home-style properties. All accommodations are subject to availability.

Every client of Juniper Tours will have local numbers to call should they need any assistance. While our US based team could be contacted, by providing local numbers from our partners you are cutting out the middleman, and the potential wait for an answer.

The only exception is if you are on a tour with a private driver-guide, as this person will be your main point of contact if you have questions.

Pricing is based on many facets including but not limited to: your destination, accommodation type, mode of transportation, number of days, and number of passengers. It could be expected that pricing for a standard 7-day tour would start at $4500 per person. Please note that we do not offer a breakdown of prices for our passengers.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer plans that include only one-day tour experiences or basic hotel stay. Our contracts with in-destination partners are arranged to make comprehensive tour packages the best option.

After speaking with your Travel Specialist a planning fee is collected. Next, you will be presented with a custom tour that’s been designed with your interests and specifications. At this time you will be provided with tour inclusions and per person pricing. Upon your approval a full deposit will be required to secure the tour details. Your final balance is due 45 days before your trip departure.
The full deposit is 30% of the total land cost. All airfare must be paid in full and is additional to the land deposit when booked at the initial time of booking

Throughout history and across multiple cultures, a tree is a powerful symbol of physical and spiritual nourishment.  Juniper’s specifically are believed to have magical properties.  And what is more magical and enriching than travel?

Yes, we do. Your Travel Specialist will help you find the perfect tour based on your needs and wants.

Absolutely! After the initial 30% deposit, you have up to 45 days prior to departure to pay your remaining balance.  You’re welcome to pay for your trip in these two pieces – deposit and final payment – or, if you’d prefer, we can break your balance into pieces that you can pay over time.

Yes, we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance.  We work with Travel Insured and they will help you protect your dream vacation.

Definitely not! And here’s a few good reasons why:

1. More Expensive

In quite a few surveys, many people reported that they have been enticed by an affordable per-night rate for their AirBnB stay. However, after much research, there seems to be an exorbitant percentage of fees associated with cleaning and other miscellaneous costs that sometimes make it more expensive than an actual hotel. In many areas, it’s hard to see the benefit of Juniper Tours’ vetted properties where you will get a supreme level of service for, at times, half the budget for your trip in Europe. When compared side-by-side, the accommodations used by Juniper Tours offer a superior value for our travelers who will receive breakfast, room service, and other amenities such as swimming pools, spas, and a concierge to name a few, that is sorely lacking at an Airbnb vacation rental.

2. Lack of Customer Service

Airbnb properties lack many amenities that preferred Juniper Tours’ accommodations provide. From trying to connect with hosts to get information about check-in to luggage storage to first-hand knowledge about the destination travelers are in, to housekeeping and room service. They simply don’t have full-time staff ready to answer questions or assist with any problems that could arise when visiting a foreign country. Airbnb leaves it up to the individual hosts to resolve-or, not resolve-any issues.

Additionally, many people have reported issues with their rental property spanning from safety concerns, damage to the structure, lost or missing keys or access, or even falsified postings that have left travelers without a place to stay – with no recourse from Airbnb’s headquarters. Likely due to AirBNB’s financial advantage, many of the most shocking stories don’t appear in widespread media to avoid negative PR.

3. Bait and Switch

A common practice is for Air BnB’s to lure you in with some tempting, beautifully staged pictures and false advertising. Upon arrival, and much to your dismay, your booked AirBnB is far less attractive and isn’t up to the standards you expected. Not to mention what do you do in the event of an emergency?

For example, we know of a multigenerational that planned a dream trip to Scotland in 2017.  With elderly grandparents and small children in tow, they arrived at the seemingly legitimate Airbnb in Edinburgh only to find that the pictured key lockbox was superglued shut, that the apartment they rented wasn’t a real listing, and it had been rented to more than one family.  They then had to find accommodations in real time, where only the subpar properties and the most expensive luxury options had any availability – though they were lucky to find vacancy at all!  (These were not Juniper Tours clients.)

At a BnB, hotel, or castle and manor home, you would visit the front desk and receive a prompt response about your concerns and frustrations. With an Airbnb-think again…, and refer back to #2.

4. Safety Issues

Airbnb hosts don’t follow consistent and strict regulations like preferred Juniper Tours’ properties for fire, security, and safety. There have also been many instances where illegal subletting has happened-unbeknownst to the renter-and hidden cameras without consent have been found. Does this make you feel safe and secure about traveling abroad?

5. Negatively Impacts Locals

“Cheaper” Airbnb rentals have made it impossible for some locals to find affordable housing – causing many to be priced out of living in their own cities. This problem is pervasive, especially in highly sought-after cities across Europe. Apartments or houses that could be permanent homes for locals, and provide a safe and beautiful place for children to grow up, are instead used as passive forms of income for the elite. We prefer not to be a contributing factor that forces people out of their home towns and artificially inflates rental rates in our destinations.

6. Contradicts the Juniper Tours Ethos

Juniper Tours is a tremendous advocate for sourcing local vendors and helping keep the economies in our destinations flourishing. From receptionists, housekeepers, concierge, chefs, and servers – you are paying for services that add additional security to your safety, and belongings, and, give you peace of mind while you travel abroad. You are also contributing to the livelihoods of the people who call your destination of choice home.

While Airbnb has become so commonplace it seems like a benign, cheap option for your trip, there are also some bad and ugly. And, when it’s ugly – it’s ugly. We encourage you to investigate for yourselves and to listen to your Juniper Tours’ Travel Specialists, as they are the experts. Please trust that we have your best interests in mind, and only want to ensure your experience the trip of your dreams when traveling with us. This, clearly, does not include utilizing Airbnb.

This trip was a new experience for us together, but it was a great experience because of all the legwork that you put in for us planning everything. We thank you very much for putting together a great honeymoon trip for us, it was everything we wanted. We were able to do some sightseeing out in the country, see some castles, some forests and national parks, tour each downtown area and feel like locals, and Kelsey even managed to do some good shopping. "Juniper Tours was phenomenal to work with from the very beginning. They understood exactly what we wanted from our trip. They were never more than a phone call or email away. They even responded to me while we were in Ireland. I know it seems like anyone could put a vacation together by themselves by using the internet, but the service, knowledge and experience that Juniper provided could not be duplicated. I would absolutely recommend Juniper Tours to anyone looking to travel."

"Our trip was more than my husband and I could have dreamed of. Taryn Harrison thought of everything while making this plan for us. I gave her the timeframe we had to explore the country and a very vague idea of the places we’d love to see. She is so extremely knowledgeable and designed an incredible holiday for us. It was our first time visiting Ireland, we are so in love with the countryside and realize there is so much more for us to explore. Thank you Taryn and Juniper Tours, we can’t wait to go back!!"
