Cherisse grew up in Torrance, California, inside one of the largest Japanese-American communities in the country — a place where Japanese culture shaped her worldview from an early age. Her passion for travel was sparked during a transformative study-abroad term in London, where she caught the travel bug and realized that exploring the world would become a lifelong pursuit.
After earning her Special Education teaching credential, she combined her love of education and international experience by moving to Spain, teaching English and supporting special-education programs at American schools. Living abroad deepened her appreciation for cultural exchange and drew her to keep discovering destinations across Europe.
An avid traveler her entire life, Cherisse has explored 21 countries and counting, and is now in her fourth year in the travel industry. A self-proclaimed foodie, she believes the best way to know a place is through its cuisine — food tours and cooking classes are her favorite way to get under the skin of a new city. Off the clock, she's with family and friends, her dogs Winston and Max, running, singing, playing music, cooking, and planning the next adventure.
Tsukemen ramen & paella Valenciana
Dipping ramen is her go-to in Japan; paella Valenciana is the dish she chases across Spain.
Translate the dish you're craving into the local language, then search it on Google Maps — type 近くの寿司屋 instead of “sushi near me” and you'll skip the tourist traps for the real thing.
