Why Vietnam, and why with us

Vietnam has no single season — which is exactly why it’s so easy to plan badly.

A great Vietnam journey isn’t about which places; it’s about which places when. The north, the central coast, and the Mekong each keep their own calendar, and threading them is the whole craft. Ours run 10–14 days, fully private, at a hand-selected 4- and 5-star tier.

Get the timing right and a single trip carries you from the motorbike hum of Hanoi’s Old Quarter to the silence of the bay at dawn, from a thousand-year citadel to a family’s table where you’re welcomed like an old friend. Get it wrong and you spend the trip chasing weather. Which is where your specialist comes in — the same team behind our private Vietnam honeymoons.

Beyond the Icons

The Vietnam most travelers never slow down for.

A Seat at the Family Table

Dinner in a Hanoi family’s ancestral home

A private, course-by-course dinner in a home held by the same family for generations — the recipes and the stories handed down together. The welcome no restaurant can arrange.

The Bay at Dawn

Cruise the karsts before the day boats wake

A small private junk on the quiet edge of Ha Long Bay — a kayak into a hidden lagoon, a swim from the deck, the limestone towers going gold while the water turns to silver.

Lanterns on the Thu Bon

Hoi An after the day-trippers leave

An evening in the ancient town as the lanterns light and paper boats drift downriver — then out through the rice paddies by bicycle to a farming family’s table for lunch the next day.

The Journey

No two Vietnam journeys are drawn alike.

This is one shape a first journey often takes — north to south, each region in its best light. Yours starts as a blank map: reverse it, slow it down, trade the coast for the far north. Your specialist draws the line around you.

In their words

What our travelers say.

Everything planned by Juniper Tours went incredibly smoothly. Every driver and guide was wonderful and the one time we thought we might miss a train, because of unexpected traffic, our driver was on the phone with the 24/7 service desk working to book new tickets for us. I was very impressed with the service and the app.

When to go

The regions never share a season.

October to April is the most reliable overall window — but Vietnam runs a thousand miles, so the right timing follows your route, not the calendar.

What’s handled

You carry nothing.

From the moment you land to the moment you’re home, every arrangement is made, confirmed, and quietly watched over — so the only thing asked of you is to be present.

On arrival
A private welcome at the airport, your luggage seen to, a car already waiting. No queue, no question, no first-day fog.
On the ground
Private guides and drivers each day, domestic flights and your cruise confirmed before you travel, hand-selected 4- and 5-star stays chosen for your trip alone.
The details you’d never think of
The table held at the right restaurant, the guide who happens to be a historian, one U.S.-based specialist reachable throughout — problems solved before they reach you.

October to April is the most reliable overall window, but Vietnam stretches more than a thousand miles north to south and its regions rarely share one season, so ideal timing follows your route. The north (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Sapa) is at its best in spring and autumn — roughly February to April and September to November. Central Vietnam (Hue, Hoi An) is driest February to May and wettest October to December. The south (Saigon / Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta) stays warm and dry December to April. Your specialist times the itinerary region by region so you catch each at its best.
Most Juniper Vietnam itineraries run 10–14 days. Ten days covers the classic north-to-south route well — Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hue, Hoi An, and Saigon. Twelve to fourteen lets you slow the pace and add Sapa's rice terraces, the caves of Phong Nha, the Mekong Delta in depth, or a beach finale. Quick domestic flights make the length of the country easy to cover.
Yes — Vietnam is widely considered a very safe, welcoming country for international travelers, including first-timers and couples, and one of the more relaxed places in Southeast Asia to travel through. On a private Juniper trip that ease is built in: you're met on arrival, moved between destinations by your own private guide and driver, and hosted in hand-selected 4- and 5-star hotels and heritage stays — with your U.S.-based specialist and in-destination support reachable throughout, so you're never navigating a new city or a language barrier alone.
Every Juniper Vietnam trip is priced individually, because every itinerary is built from scratch — your route, how long you stay, the tier of hotels, and the private experiences you choose all shape the figure. As a guide, most fully private, custom Vietnam trips fall between about $5,000 and $15,000+ per person, with hand-selected 4- and 5-star stays, private guides, and transfers arranged end to end. The 30-minute consultation is complimentary; a $100 planning deposit begins your custom itinerary, and your specialist will map a realistic investment for exactly the trip you have in mind.
Yes — and more distinctively than most couples expect. Pair a night on the quiet edge of Ha Long Bay with the lantern-lit romance of Hoi An, a celebrated dinner in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), and a barefoot finale on a central-coast beach or a southern island — best enjoyed October to April, and arranged so the two of you never think about logistics. It's an easy honeymoon to pair with a few slow days at the end.
Yes. Like every Juniper Tours journey, your Vietnam trip is 100% private and built from scratch around your dates, pace, and interests — no group tours and no pre-set packages. Private guides, domestic flights, cruises, and experiences are arranged and confirmed before you travel.
Juniper only designs private, custom Vietnam trips — never group tours. The route, pace, hotels, and guides are built around you alone: you travel on your own dates, linger where you want, and never share a coach with strangers. It costs more than a fixed group departure, but for a honeymoon, a milestone trip, or anyone who values flexibility and privacy, most clients feel it's the difference between seeing Vietnam and truly experiencing it.
For peak season (October through April), 6–12 months ahead is ideal — the best hotels and private guides book up early, especially for honeymoons. We can often arrange excellent trips on shorter notice (3–4 months, sometimes less), but the earlier you start, the more choice you'll have over specific properties and dates. Planning begins with a free consultation, so it costs nothing to start the conversation early.
