Why Vietnam

A country that moves to its own rhythm.

Juniper Tours is a U.S.-based luxury travel agency that designs fully private, custom Vietnam tours — every itinerary built from scratch by a dedicated Vietnam specialist around your dates, pace, and interests. Ride a cyclo through Hanoi’s Old Quarter, cruise overnight among Ha Long Bay’s karsts, wander Hoi An’s lantern-lit lanes, and eat your way through Saigon. No group coaches, no fixed departures — just Vietnam, entirely your own.

Vietnam rewards the traveler who slows down. In a single trip you move from the motorbike hum of Hanoi’s Old Quarter to the silence of Ha Long Bay at dawn, from a thousand-year imperial citadel to a banh mi cart that locals queue for, from the lanterns of Hoi An to the green maze of the Mekong Delta. Getting Vietnam right means pairing the icons with the quiet moments — and timing it to the regions, which never share a single season.

Juniper designs every Vietnam itinerary as a fully private, custom journey — no group tours, no fixed packages. From a heritage hotel in Hanoi to a private cabin on a Ha Long Bay cruise, every detail, guide, and domestic flight is arranged before you travel.

Cities, Markets & Street Food
Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Saigon’s relentless energy, pho and banh mi and egg coffee — explored on private food tours with guides who know which cart, which stall, and which back street to find.
Ha Long Bay & the Coast
An overnight cruise among the limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay, kayaking into hidden lagoons, and the tailors, beaches, and lantern-lit lanes of Hoi An on the central coast.
Heritage & Countryside
Hue’s Imperial Citadel, the sampan boats of the Mekong Delta, the rice terraces of the far north, and the war history that shaped the country — paced entirely around you.

Great custom travel is an investment. Your specialist will walk through exactly what a fully private, tailor-made Vietnam itinerary looks like for your trip during a free 30-minute consultation.

Beyond the Icons

The Vietnam most travelers never slow down for.

The famous sights earn their fame — but the trips travelers remember are built around the quieter, more personal moments. A few of the experiences your specialist can weave into a private Vietnam itinerary.

The Road Less Traveled

The terraced valleys of Pu Luong & Mu Cang Chai

The quiet counterpoint to Sapa — golden rice terraces cut into the hills, stilt-house villages, weaving families, and a waterfall you may have entirely to yourself. Based from a valley ecolodge, paced to how far you want to walk.

Earn the Summit

Fansipan on foot, not by cable car

A two-day ascent of Vietnam’s highest peak (3,147 m) on the ridge trails above Sapa — orchid forests, a high camp under the stars, and a summit that looks across to Laos and China. For travelers who’d rather earn the view.

Hands & Hearth

A farming-and-fishing day in the Hoi An countryside

Cycle out through the rice paddies to a family home: try a round basket-boat on the river, fold your own silk lantern, and sit down to a home-cooked lunch — the Hoi An the day-trippers miss.

Imperial, After Dark

A private dinner inside Hue’s Citadel walls

When the crowds leave, the imperial city can be yours — an illuminated gate, a course-by-course royal-style menu within the palace grounds, served where Vietnam’s emperors once dined. Your specialist arranges the access and the table.

A Different Angle

Ha Long Bay from a seaplane

Trade the crowded harbor for the sky: a low pass over the karsts, floating villages, and hidden caves that only reveal their scale from above — then down to your overnight cruise among them.

None of these are fixed packages. They’re starting points — tell your Vietnam specialist what moves you, and they’ll build the trip around it.

Hanoi · Halong Bay · Hue · Hoi An · Saigon

This is a sample itinerary — for inspiration only. Every Juniper trip is designed from scratch around you. Many clients love an itinerary very similar to this one — if something here resonates, your specialist can build something just like it (or better) specifically for your travel style, dates, and group.

Arrive in Hanoi
Hanoi+
Welcome to Vietnam! On arrival, your VIP meet-and-greet representative is waiting at the gate to walk you through immigration and customs and see your luggage to your private transfer, which brings you into the capital. Settle into your hotel and ease into Hanoi at your own pace — your specialist will have arranged a gentle first evening, perhaps a quiet walk around Hoan Kiem Lake and your first proper bowl of pho, before the days ahead.
Overnight: Hanoi
A full day with a private guide through Hanoi's thousand-year-old heart — the narrow lanes of the Old Quarter, the Temple of Literature, and the colonial boulevards of the French Quarter. In the afternoon, a private street-food walk: banh mi, bun cha, egg coffee, and a cyclo ride through the tangle of the Old Quarter as the city lights up.
Overnight: Hanoi
Travel to the coast and board a private overnight cruise among the limestone karsts of Ha Long Bay — a UNESCO seascape of emerald water and forested islands. Kayak into a hidden lagoon, swim from the deck, and watch the sun set over the towers before a seafood dinner on board. The most restorative night of the trip.
Overnight: Ha Long Bay (cruise)
Disembark after a leisurely morning, then fly south to Hue, Vietnam's former imperial capital. Explore the walled Imperial Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City, then take a private boat along the Perfume River to a riverside pagoda and the royal tombs set among pine and frangipani.
Overnight: Hue
A scenic private drive over the Hai Van Pass, with coastal views and a stop at the Marble Mountains, brings you to Hoi An. Check in and spend the evening in the lantern-lit lanes of the ancient town — a perfectly preserved trading port, its old merchant houses glowing along the river.
Overnight: Hoi An
A relaxed day in Hoi An: a private fitting with a master tailor, a countryside bike ride through rice paddies to an organic farm, and free time on the beach at An Bang. As dusk falls, the lanterns light again and paper boats drift down the Thu Bon — a quintessential Vietnam evening.
Overnight: Hoi An
Fly south to Ho Chi Minh City, still Saigon to most who live there — Vietnam's exuberant, fast-moving south. See the landmarks of the old city, then, as the heat eases, a private Vespa food tour weaves you through the back streets to the dishes and night markets locals love.
Overnight: Ho Chi Minh City
A private day trip into the Mekong Delta — sampan boats through the coconut palms, a floating market, and a riverside lunch — before a private transfer to Tan Son Nhat for your flight home. Most travelers leave Vietnam already planning a return.

Common Questions

Vietnam travel questions

For most itineraries, October through April is ideal — dry, comfortable weather across the north and center, and Hanoi at its crispest. Because Vietnam stretches more than a thousand miles, the regions don't share one season: the south is warm year-round, the center has its own rain window, and the far north turns cool in winter. Your specialist will time your route so you catch each region at its best.
Most Juniper Vietnam itineraries run 10–14 days. Ten days covers the classic north-to-south route well — Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hue, Hoi An, and Saigon. Twelve to fourteen lets you slow the pace and add Sapa's rice terraces, the caves of Phong Nha, the Mekong Delta in depth, or a beach finale. Quick domestic flights make the length of the country easy to cover.
Wonderfully. A private overnight cruise among the karsts of Ha Long Bay, the lantern-lit romance of Hoi An, dinners along the Thu Bon river, and a finale at a beach resort on the central coast or an island in the south — Vietnam is a distinctive, surprisingly romantic honeymoon, and easy to pair with a few barefoot days at the end.
Yes. Like every Juniper Tours journey, your Vietnam trip is 100% private and built from scratch around your dates, pace, and interests — no group tours and no pre-set packages. Private guides, domestic flights, cruises, and experiences are arranged and confirmed before you travel.
