Why Cambodia

One of the world’s great wonders — on your own schedule.

Cambodia rewards the traveler who slows down. The temples of Angkor are among the most extraordinary monuments on earth — a thousand years of Khmer empire in carved stone — and with a private guide you can stand before Angkor Wat at sunrise before the coaches arrive. Getting Cambodia right means pairing the icons with the quiet: the Bayon’s faces, a jungle temple, a floating village, and the warmth of the Khmer table.

Juniper designs every Cambodia itinerary as a fully private, custom journey — no group tours, no fixed packages. From a Siem Reap heritage hotel to a private archaeologist guide and a Banteay Srei jeep tour, every detail, guide, and transfer is arranged before you travel.

Angkor, Beyond the Crowds
Sunrise at Angkor Wat, the walled city of Angkor Thom and the serene Bayon, the jungle temple of Ta Prohm — explored with a private archaeologist guide who gets you in early and explains what you’re seeing.
Siem Reap & Khmer Life
The floating villages of Tonle Sap, the dazzling Phare circus, Khmer street food by tuk-tuk, and a private jeep tour out to the pink-stone temple of Banteay Srei — the living side of Cambodia.
History & the South
Phnom Penh’s moving modern history, the broad sweep of the Mekong, and the laid-back coast at Kep and Kampot — the deeper, less-traveled Cambodia, paced entirely around you.

Great custom travel is an investment. Your specialist will walk through exactly what a fully private, tailor-made Cambodia itinerary looks like for your trip during a free 30-minute consultation.

Sample Itinerary

Best of Cambodia — 6 Days

Siem Reap · Angkor · Tonle Sap

This is a sample itinerary — for inspiration only. Every Juniper trip is designed from scratch around you. Many clients love an itinerary very similar to this one — if something here resonates, your specialist can build something just like it (or better) specifically for your travel style, dates, and group.

1
Arrive in Siem Reap
Siem Reap+
Welcome to Cambodia! After clearing Siem Reap's airport, a private transfer brings you to your hotel. Settle in and ease into the town at your own pace — your specialist will have arranged a gentle first evening, perhaps a tuk-tuk through the old French quarter and your first Khmer meal, before the temples ahead.
Overnight: Siem Reap
Up before dawn for the sight of the trip: the sun rising behind the five towers of Angkor Wat, reflected in the moat. With a private guide you explore the temple before the crowds, then move on to the walled city of Angkor Thom and the serene carved faces of the Bayon. An afternoon rest beats the midday heat.
Overnight: Siem Reap
Morning at Ta Prohm, the jungle temple where strangler-fig roots fold over the stone. Then a private jeep tour out to Banteay Srei, the exquisite pink-sandstone "citadel of women," through countryside and village life. A sunset spot your guide knows closes the day.
Overnight: Siem Reap
A boat out onto Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia's great lake, to a floating village where life is lived on the water. Back in town, an evening at Phare — the Cambodian circus, a dazzling blend of acrobatics, theatre, and music that supports young Khmer artists.
Overnight: Siem Reap
A hands-on Khmer cooking class or a street-food tour by tuk-tuk — amok, kroeung, fresh river fish, palm sugar — led by someone who knows the markets. The rest of the day is yours: a spa, the night market, or a second, quieter visit to a favourite temple.
Overnight: Siem Reap
After breakfast, a private transfer brings you to Siem Reap's airport. Most travelers leave Cambodia already planning a return — for Phnom Penh, the Mekong, or the southern coast they didn't have time for. Your Juniper specialist remains reachable throughout departure day.

Common Questions

Cambodia travel questions

November through March is ideal — cool, dry, and the most comfortable time to explore Angkor. April and May are very hot. June to October is the green season: lush, fewer crowds, and afternoon rain that rarely disrupts a well-planned day. Your specialist will time it to what you most want to see.
Angkor itself deserves three to four days to do it justice. Most Juniper Cambodia trips run 5–9 days, and Cambodia is very often combined with Thailand or Vietnam into a single, seamless two- or three-country journey designed by one specialist.
Absolutely. A private guide means early access before the tour coaches arrive, a route timed to the light and the heat, and the context that turns carved stone into a thousand years of history. It is the single biggest difference between seeing Angkor and understanding it.
Yes. Like every Juniper Tours journey, your Cambodia trip is 100% private and built from scratch around your dates, pace, and interests — no group tours and no pre-set packages. Private guides, drivers, hotels, and experiences are arranged and confirmed before you travel.
