Why South Korea

Where dynasties and the future share a street.

South Korea rewards the traveler who looks closely. In a single day you can move from a 600-year-old palace to a glass-and-neon shopping district, from a hushed mountain temple to a sizzling barbecue table, from the tense quiet of the DMZ to the pop and color of a night market. Getting Korea right means pairing the icons with the quiet moments — and timing it to the season: cherry blossom in spring, fiery foliage in autumn.

Juniper designs every Korea itinerary as a fully private, custom journey — no group tours, no fixed packages. From a Seoul design hotel to a traditional hanok stay and a temple-stay in the mountains, every detail, guide, and rail ticket is arranged before you travel.

Seoul — Old & New
Gyeongbokgung Palace and hanbok, the hanok lanes of Bukchon, Myeongdong and Gangnam, street food and the palaces lit at night — explored with private guides who get you in early and explain what you’re seeing.
History & Heritage
The DMZ, Gyeongju’s royal tombs and temples, the Confucian heart of Andong, traditional hanok stays and temple-stay experiences — Korea’s deep history is woven through every region.
Seasons & the Coast
Cherry blossoms and autumn foliage, Busan’s beaches and seafood markets, the volcanic island of Jeju, and the granite peaks of Seoraksan — paced entirely around you.

Great custom travel is an investment. Your specialist will walk through exactly what a fully private, tailor-made South Korea itinerary looks like for your trip during a free 30-minute consultation.

Arrive in Seoul
Seoul+
Welcome to South Korea! After clearing Incheon, a private transfer brings you into Seoul. Settle in and ease into the city at your own pace — your specialist will have arranged a gentle first evening, perhaps a quiet stroll and your first taste of Korean barbecue, before the days ahead.
Overnight: Seoul
A full day with a private guide through the heart of old Seoul — the grand halls of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the lantern-lit lanes of Bukchon Hanok Village, and the galleries and teahouses of Insadong. The afternoon turns to food: a market tasting and the street stalls your guide knows best.
Overnight: Seoul
A day trip north to the Demilitarized Zone — the world's most heavily fortified border and one of the most moving places in Korea. With a private guide you visit the observation points and tunnels, then return to Seoul for a final evening in the city, perhaps the night markets of Myeongdong or the energy of Gangnam.
Overnight: Seoul
A taste of high-speed rail: the KTX glides south to Gyeongju, the thousand-year capital of the Silla dynasty. Often called a museum without walls, the city is dotted with grassy royal tombs, ancient observatories, and the serene UNESCO-listed Bulguksa temple. Check in and settle into Korea's deepest history.
Overnight: Gyeongju
A morning among Gyeongju's tombs and temples, then on to Busan — Korea's vibrant port city on the southern coast. The pastel houses of Gamcheon Culture Village climb the hillside; the beach at Haeundae stretches below. An evening at the seafood market caps a day of contrasts.
Overnight: Busan
A relaxed day on the coast — the bustling Jagalchi fish market, a coastal temple perched above the waves, and free time on Busan's beaches and in its markets. Your guide tailors the pace to you, with the city's best seafood never far away.
Overnight: Busan
After breakfast, a private transfer brings you to the airport for your flight home. Most travelers leave Korea already planning a return — for Jeju island, the temples they didn't reach, or another season. Your Juniper specialist remains reachable throughout departure day.

Common Questions

South Korea travel questions

Two windows stand out. Spring (late March–May) brings the cherry blossoms — extraordinary across Seoul, Gyeongju, and Jinhae. Autumn (September–November) brings the fiery foliage and crisp, clear days, and is arguably the most comfortable time to travel. Summer is hot, humid, and prone to rain; winter is cold but excellent for cultural sights and fewer crowds. Your specialist will time it to what you most want to see.
Most Juniper Korea itineraries run 7–12 days. A week comfortably covers Seoul, Gyeongju, and Busan with the KTX high-speed rail linking them. Ten to twelve days lets you slow the pace or add Jeju island, Andong, or a temple-stay. The country is compact and the trains are excellent, so it covers easily.
Wonderfully. Seoul and Tokyo are barely a two-hour flight apart, which makes a combined Korea–Japan journey a natural two-country trip — two distinct cultures and cuisines in one itinerary. Your specialist can design the routing and timing so the two flow seamlessly together.
Yes. Like every Juniper Tours journey, your South Korea trip is 100% private and built from scratch around your dates, pace, and interests — no group tours and no pre-set packages. Private guides, rail tickets, hotels, and experiences are arranged and confirmed before you travel.
