Switzerland Grand Rail Tour Day-by-day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Zurich
Arrive in Zurich and transfer to your charming hotel, where you’ll settle in for the start of your adventure. Afterward, enjoy a guided walking tour of Zurich’s Old Town, visit the Bahnhofstrasse, and take a leisurely stroll along Lake Zurich. In the evening, delight in a traditional Swiss dinner at a local restaurant before heading back to your hotel.

Day 2: Zurich Exploration
Spend the entire day exploring Zurich at your own pace. Visit the Kunsthaus Zurich art museum or the Swiss National Museum for a taste of local culture and history. Take a tram ride up to Uetliberg Mountain for panoramic views of the city and surrounding landscapes. In the evening, enjoy a dinner cruise on Lake Zurich.

Day 3: Zurich to Lucerne
Board the scenic train from Zurich to Lucerne, soaking in the picturesque landscapes along the way. Upon arrival in Lucerne, explore the Chapel Bridge, the Water Tower, and the Lion Monument, all of which showcase the city’s rich history and beauty. You will have free time to discover the charming town of Lucerne at your own pace, with an optional boat cruise on Lake Lucerne.

Day 4: Lucerne – Mount Pilatus Excursion
Begin your day with an excursion to Mount Pilatus. Ride the world’s steepest cogwheel railway to the summit and enjoy panoramic views of the Alps. Spend your afternoon hiking or relaxing at the summit restaurant. Return to Lucerne and spend your evening exploring more of the town’s charming cafes and shops

Day 5: Lucerne – Day at Leisure
Today is a free day to enjoy Lucerne at your own pace. Visit the Swiss Museum of Transport or stroll through the local markets. For outdoor enthusiasts, take a day hike through the nearby forests or rent a bike to explore the lakeside. Dinner on your own at one of Lucerne’s many fine dining options.

Day 6: Lucerne to Interlaken
Travel from Interlaken to Zermatt, renowned for its proximity to the iconic Matterhorn. Arrive in Zermatt and explore the car-free village. Visit the Matterhorn Museum and take a scenic ride on the Gornergrat Railway for panoramic views of the Alps. Relax with a gourmet dinner in a cozy mountain restaurant.

Day 7: Interlaken – Jungfraujoch Excursion
Today, embark on an unforgettable journey to Jungfraujoch, the “Top of Europe.” Take the cogwheel train to the highest railway station in Europe, enjoying spectacular views of glaciers and snow-capped peaks. Visit the Ice Palace, walk through tunnels of ice, and marvel at the stunning Alpine scenery. Return to Interlaken for a relaxing evening.

Day 8: Interlaken – Day at Leisure

Day 9: Interlaken to Zermatt

Day 10: Zermatt – Gornergrat Railway and Matterhorn Views

Day 12: Depart for Home
Enjoy your breakfast and prepare your goodbyes. A private driver will pick you up from your accommodations and take you to the airport departure hall for your return flight home.
