A Week in Southern France Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Nice

Welcome to France! Upon arrival, a private driver will meet you at the Arrivals Hall and bring you to your accommodation. If it’s too early to check-in, leave your belongings with the concierge and begin exploring the town. Enjoy the coastline by strolling along the paved walkway of Promenade des Anglais. We also recommend visiting Old Nice, a small portion of the town with lots of cafes and restaurants.

Overnight in Nice

Day 2: Villefranche-Sur-Mer

After breakfast this morning, you will meet your private driver-guide. Enjoy Nice’s neighboring town of Ville Franche-Sur-Mer, a colorful little coastal town with excellent waterfront restaurants.

Next, visit the beautiful mansion called Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. Enjoy the mansion itself at your leisure, but be sure to visit the spectacular gardens before returning to Nice.

Overnight in Nice

Day 3: Monaco

Today will be your opportunity to explore the exciting town of Monaco. Used as the backdrop for countless television shows and films, it’s sometimes hard to believe this place is real! Check out the Monte Carlo Casino. Even those who don’t typically gamble can’t help but be impressed by this landmark. If interested, we can arrange a 30 or 60 minute Ferrari coastal driving adventure!

If casinos or luxury cars aren’t your cup of tea, you can’t go wrong strolling the coast and taking in the views of green-blue water and docked yachts.

Overnight in Nice

Day 4: Antibes & Cannes

After breakfast, you will again meet your private driver-guide for more exploring! Your first stop of the day will be Antibes for a chance to see another view of the stunning French southern coast. You may wish to check out the Picasso Museum or the Absinthe Museum.

Next, you’ll continue on to Cannes. Just like Monaco, it’s hard to believe this legendary place exists! Lounge on the beach, grab a drink at the Ritz-Carlton or consider a meal at one of the restaurants that sit on the docks that jut out onto the water.

Overnight in Nice

Day 5: Marseille

After breakfast this morning you will check out of your Nice accommodation, and meet with your driver-guide before heading to Marseille.

Along the way, you’ll want to make stops in the little towns en route. We recommend making at least a photo stop at the charming town of Eze. Next, you will want to stop at the hidden gem town of Vence. This little-known town is packed with all of the charms of southern France but isn’t as well known so you will have some space from the crowds of Nice. After departing Vence it will be approximately a 2 hour, scenic ride to Marseille. Enjoy water views at dinner one last time, as tomorrow you’ll be heading north to Provence.

Overnight in Marseille

Day 6: Avignon

Before departing Marseille, we recommend taking a 2-3 hour morning boat tour of the Parc National des Calanques. Sheer cliffs plunge into the turquoise water you’ve for the duration of your trip. The spectacular views are worth the time spent on this tour, however, the water can be a little choppy so we recommend taking precautions in case you are susceptible to seasickness.

Along the way to Avignon, we recommend making a stop in Aix-en-Provence, considered “the gateway into Provence.” Enjoy lunch, enjoy the shops, (or both!) but definitely make a point to see Cours Mirabeau: a tree-lined thoroughfare that’s great for people watching and typical southern French architecture.

Continue on to Avignon, and enjoy a farm-to-table at one of the many local restaurants.

Overnight in Avignon

Day 7: Provence

You’ll have a few options for how to spend your time today. Your private driver-guide will collect you from the hotel after breakfast and can take you on a private wine tour of the Rhode wine region. Tasting and meals can be pre-arranged for a smooth day.

You may opt for a more carefree and loosely structured day. Having Avignon as a base, you are in the perfect place to immerse yourself in the tiny little French towns that are like a storybook come to life! With vineyards, lavender farms, endless rolling hills, you could take an entire day getting lost here. (Not literally lost, your driver-guide will know your interests and preferences in advance and will take you on a mini adventure.)

Overnight in Avignon

Day 8: Depart for Home

The time has come to say “Au Revoir!” to la belle France. A private driver will collect you from your hotel and bring you to the airport for your return flight home.
